Study and Supervision of Interior Renovation of Electra Palace,Thessaloniki / Greece

The renovation of the interior of the historic and emblematic Electra Palace hotel,on Aristotelous Square, member of Electra Hotels & Resorts Group, was a difficult, yet tempting challenge. The Group’s goal was for the renovation to preserve the history of the hotel, while highlighting a hospitality philosophy based on modern characteristics and a timeless aesthetic quality.

Concept: The main intention was for the visitor to experience intimate luxury through a humble and elegant space. We sought for the identity of the overall intervention, as well as the diversity in designing each of the various units. The harmonious coexistence of contrasts, emphasis on the character and the quality of the materials, synthesized a detailed and original design.This interchange of elements that create a feeling of coziness and surprise. Our goal was for the overall design to offer a sense of powerful silence timeless, while enriching the art of hospitality, and activate a dialectic relationship with the city and its people.

Design: The restrictions of the existing structure were extensive and called for the osmosis and coming together of many different factors. Often in renovations, these restrictions had to be turned into a challenge. Therefore we intended to highlight the structural merits of the building while resolving the issues rising from a variety of restrictions. The renovation of the building took place in all seven floors of a total surface of 7,500 m². Simultaneously all the underground and auxiliary spaces were completely upgraded.
